See The World at UC

If you are reading this, you probably are or are looking to be an international student and have already taken the first step to traveling the world! As Trevor Noah, a South African comedian, said, “traveling is the antidote to ignorance.”

University of Cincinnati understands the value in learning outside of classes and hence provides tons of opportunities to travel around the United States and around the world. This is just the beginning and you will find plenty more ways to travel depending on your major and experiences.

Study Abroad

Study abroad is the most common way to travel while continuing your college education. There are almost a hundred programs that UC offers for study abroad. They can be either a full semester study abroad, or a faculty led one week study abroad which are more common during the spring break!

How do I get started with a study abroad you ask? The first step will be to talk to your academic advisor and show interest in study abroad. Next, visit the walk in hours for study abroad and learn about various countries you can visit and choose which one would be the right fit for you. Work out the details and book your tickets!

Last step? Go travel and have fun!

Co-ops and Internships

Being a co-op school, of course UC has options to travel for your co-ops and internships. One easy way is to find co-ops in the city and country you want to work in. Opportunities might vary here based on your major and the kind of internship you are looking for. For example, finding a co-op in California’s Silicon Valley is easier when you are a computer science major.

If you want to travel outside of the United States, look into ICP – International Co-op Program. You get to travel and work in countries like Germany and Japan for 8 months! You get a lot of help from UC too. They help you find and talk to companies, learn languages like German and Japanese.

Plan it Yourself

Sounds like a lot. I know. Easier said than done. But moving cities temporarily as a college student is much easier compared to when you are working full time at a company. So do it! Save up money before summer, plan your destination and travel. Look for hostels and public transits to save money, or find a host family, or be an au pair in France! There are plenty of ways to do it.

Moreover, if you are in University Honors Program, you can make it your honors experience and also get some grants from UHP!
