The city of Cincinnati is rich in history and is largely influenced by its German culture. Therefore, it hosts the biggest Oktoberfest celebrations in the United States!

Oktoberfest Zinzinnati is a three-day celebration of German heritage, beer, music, and food held every September. The festival attracts around 500,000 people every year to Cincinnati. It is the place for The World’s Largest Chicken Dance and Running of the Wieners, sounds very fun right?
I went to Oktoberfest last year with the UC organization I am a part of, Icats. We learn about different cultures in the organization and we decided to have a field trip to downtown Cincinnati for Oktoberfest to learn more about the German culture.
We got there on a Saturday night with a hope that there would be less traffic. My first impression when I got to the place was the amount of people who attended. You could easily get lost in the lines of people who were patiently waiting for food from the food trucks. The smell of food was amazing and I got to try some of the traditional German food. Beer was also one of the big factors at the festival since everybody was holding a cup of beer in their hands. My favorite had to be the live entertainment from the bands that performed on nine different stages located across different streets during the festival. They sure knew how to create a festive atmosphere.

If you will ever be in Cincinnati around September, it would be ideal to check out Oktoberfest!!
