Hello,
My name is Yasmeen and I am Lebanese and German; however, I graduated from high school in Dubai, UAE. After being born in Dayton, Ohio I moved to Dubai and grew up there, it is still my home. Before I decided to accept the admission offer from UC; I toured the university twice, and I guess now I can see why it just stuck to me. I think it is because it is something different, I love change and new beginnings.

One beginning that has been ingrained in my heart and mind for at least 5 years is my desire to go to medical school to become a doctor. Ask anyone that knows me, even briefly, and they would tell you that I just love babies; I will do anything and everything to be a neonatologist and save little babies. One thing about UC that drew me in was their Children’s hospital (a little biased, I know), being able to already imagine myself volunteering and working on research with professors and fellow doctors was a major reason for why I chose UC. I am a cell and molecular biology first-year student and so far, I really do love it.
One of the best summers of my life was the summer before my senior year; I interned at the Virginia Commonwealth University Hospital and co-wrote an Obstetrics and Neonatology course. As if that did not bring enough joy into my life, I shadowed a nurse practitioner in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and got to be around premature babies, nurses, and doctors for 12 hours.
Some fun facts about me are that I am an advocate for rare diseases, I love going to the doctor and having my blood drawn, and my sister and I are absolutely inseparable.
As you might be able to realize I just love being around children, babies, and medicine, and my family. I am pretty shy but I am working on that and as an international student ambassador, I really should get out of my comfort zone. I hope to get to know you more, best of luck!
